Refashioned Wrestling Tee

Last weekend, my middle sister returned from a business trip to New York. Of course, she came home with lots of lovely things which in turn this meant she turned out some old clothes from her wardrobe...from which I, our youngest sister, and the charity shop reaped the benefits! Yay!

One of the things I snaffled from her pile of cast-offs was a slightly outsized, cropped t-shirt that my sister had picked up at a retro shop a while back. I liked the design on the front, but cropped tops do not have a place in my wardrobe!

So I gave it a little refashion:

Not too bad, eh?

It’s a really simple and obvious refashion but I stumbled a few times along the way so I’m sharing this how-to in the hope that you don’t have to!

Note: My sewing method is seriously ‘gung-ho’ and this will probably have accomplished dressmakers groaning and crying. I cut corners and muddle my way through!

Pinning Inspiration #6

Last week’s post was about explorer and adventurer Alexandra David-Neel. Did it leave you feeling inspired to travel?

If like me, you’d love to travel but don’t have the funds to do so, perhaps this week’s Pinning Inspiration will inspire you with ways to bring the exotic into your home!

Sometimes, a few framed posters or photographs will be enough. A cerulean sea, brightly-clothed African women, a Tibetan temple--images from whatever part of the world appeals to you the most.
Even if pictures aren’t enough, they are a good start!

Marvellous Monday #16

Happy Monday!
Let's make this a nature-y Marvellous Monday, with a theme of trees (no hugging of them required, unless you want to!)

To walk amongst trees is to discover a sense of calm...

Au Revoir

These kind of posts are popping up everywhere so I'll make it brief:

  • Google Reader is shutting down on 1st July. Boo!
  • If you haven't already, you'll need to change how you follow blogs.
  • I've jumped on The Old Reader bandwagon (I just imported my Google Reader subscriptions, easy!)
  • ...but keep seeing the name Bloglovin' bandied about too!

This was your brief and friendly reminder that Google Reader is Shutting Down on July 1st. Boooooo.

(Thanks Samatha for pointing out my massive error!)

Hooray for Happy Post!

Just recently I entered the 'Happy Post Day' giveaway on the green gal--and I won! Hooray!

The giveaway prize was a little package of cool, eco-friendly stationery from The Green Gables, tied up with string as all good packages should be :)

Even the plastic wrap on the cards is eco-friendly--it can be composted!

The Green Gables stationery has adorable designs and I'm really happy to have won a little selection of it. Soon enough I'll be writing the cards to friends, so they can have a happy post day too.

Massive thanks to Gabrielle for running the giveaway!

If you think this stationery is cute, I fully recommend heading over to The Green Gables to take a look at all the lovely things.

Do you ever feel like travelling off to foreign climes, to adventure in exotic places?

Alexandra David-Neel did. Her inspiring and adventurous life is therefore the subject of this week’s Pinning Inspiration.

Etsy Shop Update!

At long last, I've updated my Etsy Shop!

Having spent months making jewellery, I added some new products as well as relisting a couple of items from my first update.

Here's a quick pick of some of my favourite pieces!

Silver and Turquoise Multi-Charm Necklace - I made this using a heap of items from all kinds of sources. The inspiration/theme was ancient, well-travelled, memories...
I utterly love this necklace and spent so much time gathering pieces for it, not to mention the time spent putting it all together! This is possibly my favourite item in the entire shop.

Pinning Inspiration #4

Last week's, Pinning Inspiration focused on statementnecklaces.
This time around I want to share some inspiration that will make you want to roll up your sleeves and reach for the toolkit!

Upcycling is a great way to give a new use to something old, so this post looks at upcycled furniture.
You can upcycle all kinds of things. The only limits are skill, money and most importantly, imagination!

I’m totally in love with these bathtub sofas. Brings a whole new meaning to relaxing in the tub, right?

Marvellous Monday #14

Happy Monday! The theme for this week's Marvellous Monday is the sky.

This week, rather than ransack Pinterest, I braved the disorganised horror that is 'My Pictures' to bring you some sky photographs that I hope you'll find a pleasure to view. :)

As children, I suspect many of us stared at the sky and watched the clouds float by...

Decorated Cuff

I’ve been totally lax at posting DIYs as of late, and I’m sorry for that. Altogether I’m feeling unmotivated in all aspects of creativity! (Haven’t even got around to photographing new stock for my Etsy store. Naughty me!)

Anyway, here’s a quick, easy, no-brainer of a DIY!

Pinning Inspiration #3

For this week’s Pinning Inspiration, I want to step away from focusing on the inspirational achievements of one person.

Today’s theme is a little closer to home: statement necklaces.

I’ve seen the phrase ‘statement necklace’ bandied about a lot, though am sometimes disappointed by what is deemed to be a ‘statement’ these days. Though I'd be more than happy with the above, by Doro Soucy at Lux Vixens Fashion! Check out her Etsy store for some truly fantastic pieces.

Marvellous Monday #13

How's your Monday coming along?
Let's inject a little colour into this week's Marvellous Monday with a theme of the brightest, sunniest colour out there, yellow!

Whilst yellow is a colour that can be associated with autumn, it's also very spring-like and summery--a colour for (almost) all seasons!
